Someone has been vandalising cars down my road for the second time in the last two or three months, and someone pulled the wing mirrors off one of my parents’ cars this time. They damaged another car at the end of the road as well. Last time it was a couple of teenagers, and it’s probably the same culprits this time. I’m not sure where they’re from. Most of the people living around here are retired couples, and most of the younger families have small children.
Only one page tonight. Last week was too hectic to work on pages, so I’m only uploading one this week to keep on top of things. Expect a return to the usual two pages next week.
This made me laugh so dang hard.
that’s almost too cruel

I had to do this once with Privateer II: The Darkening. It gained a bit when he said “I bet you didn’t play it through, I bet somebody just told you how…” and I was able to smile gently and say “God, possibly, since I wrote the game.” And plainly the Deity was with me that day, as I happened to be carrying docs from my UK agent (who’d done the deal) that showed not only that I was the writer, but the five-figure sum I had been paid. …It was a happy day for me. Not so much for him. I’d never had a referent for the word “slink” for a full grown male before. As in “slink away in utter dejection.” I smiled for at least three days without stopping. And am smiling now… I had completely forgotten about this.
Reblogging because “I beat the game” is fantastic, but “I wrote the damn thing” is even better.
Reboggling again for the fortuitous mansplainer smackdown.

Blankd’s critiques aren’t sugar-coated, but they do contain a lot of useful advice. Nobody likes being told that their comic–or part of it–sucks but learning how to push through the hurt and use the criticism to make yourself better is part of being an artist (and part of life in general).
Blankd certainly isn’t the only member of the SJ community who posts frank reviews (in fact, I think most regular reviewers do the same, because they’d like people to treat their own work the same way). If one harsh critique was enough to make you quit, maybe you weren’t ready to be posting your work in public.

I have two parcels to collect, but because of my work hours I won’t be able to get them until Saturday unless…I get up at 5.30am tomorrow and get to the delivery office before work. I’m seriously considering this. The only drawback besides the early start is that I work in a post room and I don’t want the parcels to walk because someone mistakes them for work stuff. I don’t think it would happen, but I’d still need to keep an eye on them.
Two more pages, hastily added. Subject to further editing tomorrow when I don’t need to sleep really badly.
