When did it become fashionable to cook with shimeji/beech mushrooms in the UK? I never came across them before I lived in Japan, but lately it seems like they’re everywhere. Lying in wait in innocent mushroom dishes, conspiring to make me ill.
At least this time the chef made a quick replacement. Last time I just had to go hungry.
